Notes:  An unusual treat for bird-watchers has been the influx of the Great Gray Owl to the meadows and swamps of north central Minnesota. Normally residents of Canada and Arctic Circle, the owls have migrated south due to a decline in the vole population. The majority of birds we spotted this day were on power poles or fence lines, intently listening for prey in the ditches below.
